VIDEO EDITOR | Make select tool contextual

Completed

I’m not sure having to hold shift to select multiple clips makes sense in the editor view. In all other video editing tools, the select tool is contextual: Drag in an empty space and it becomes multi-select. But when you click and drag on a click, it becomes a select/move tool. This seems simple enough to implement, just make it so that shift isn’t required on the click and drag to act as a select/multi-select and then do a check on click and drag to see if the cursor is over a clip to change it to a select/move tool for clips.

We will keep current Shift. It’s required because we have not snapped and snapped channels. Next update will have also some Multiselect Group Options. For start – for text layers.

Got it, would there be no way to make it optional for users who don’t use snapped channels? If not, I understand 👍

Ok. After some experiments. Shift will continue to work for group clicks. Area selection will not require Shift. Gate for snapped channels will be removed
