Currently, there is no way to use a unique shape for a video clip when dragged in from the media browser. Even vertical videos have black borders added to make them 16:9 or whatever aspect ratio the project is at. At a minimum, crop settings should be added to the settings sidebar. Ideally, crop-left, crop-right, crop-top, crop-bottom and a rounded corners option that allows a full circle shape (for talking head type video overlays).
One step further would be the ability to mask a video clip with an SVG shape with offset-x, offset-y and scale-x, scale-y values for the SVG.
