A motion path sends a layer travelling along a bezier curve you draw on the canvas — with per-point depth, per-point rotation, and a library of ready-made shapes. (The project camera has its own path with the same editor — see Camera Layer.)
Draw a path
Select a layer and open the MOTION PATH section. Draw path arms the on-canvas editor: click to drop anchors, drag anchors and handles to shape the curve. Each point carries X / Y / Z, so a path can travel in depth; in the 3D world view points can be moved (and rotated) with the gizmo directly in space.
Follow path drives the layer along the curve; the Path Progress track (keyframable) sets where on the curve the layer is, so easing and timing are ordinary keyframes.
Presets
While drawing, a Presets button opens a picker of 19 ready-made shapes, each drawn as a live curve tile:
- Travel — Arc, S-Curve, Corner, U-Turn, Wave, Zigzag, Bounce (true parabolic decaying hops), Loop-de-loop, Swing, Spring, Spiral In / Out.
- Loops — Circle, Orbit, Figure 8, Heart, Rounded Square, Triangle, Star.
Applying replaces the current points with the shape — centred, scaled to the frame, at the layer’s depth — and every anchor stays a normal editable point. The picker stays open for quick comparison.
Group-select points
Drag across the preview to marquee-select several anchors (Shift adds; Shift-click toggles one). The selection gets a transform box — drag its body to move every point together, its grips to scale (Alt = about the centre, Shift = uniform), and the dot above to rotate (Shift snaps to 15°). Curve handles ride along, so a scaled or rotated selection keeps its exact curvature.
Rotation at point
Every anchor can carry its own X/Y/Z rotation — set it in the point panel (Rotation at point) or with the Rotate gizmo in the 3D world view. The Aim selector decides how it’s used:
- Along the path — the layer aims where the curve is heading, and blends the anchor rotations on top: a rotated point banks, tilts or spins the layer exactly as it arrives there.
- Point rotation — orientation is driven purely by the anchor rotations, blended as the layer travels, without aligning to the path direction.
- Free — the layer keeps its own rotation.
