Turn a transcribed voice take into timed subtitle lines on the timeline. (To go straight from any video or audio layer to captions — transcription included — use the AI Captions wizard in the Smart AI menu.)
Make captions
- Open the Voice channel’s Transcribe editor and transcribe a take (see Voice Channels and Transcribe Editor).
- Click Captions on the take. The button becomes available once the take has transcript text.
- The Caption Animation picker opens — the full text-animation library with search and category filters. Pick No Animation for captions that appear instantly, or any preset for animated word-by-word entrances; the panel below the presets tunes split, timing, exit, text size and legibility shadows, and Sync to voice (on by default) drives each word on its spoken time. Click Add Captions.
The editor splits the transcript into caption-sized lines — breaking at pauses longer than 0.8 s, at sentence-ending punctuation, or after 8 words — and adds one timed text item per line, aligned to the take’s word timings.
Where captions land
Caption items are named Captions and appear at the matching moment of the take. They land on an existing text channel if it has room over the caption span; otherwise the editor creates a new channel called Captions. The default style is white 54 px text placed toward the bottom of the frame, like subtitles.
A confirmation reports the result, e.g. “Captions added · 12 lines”. Only the take’s trimmed range is captioned.
Edit captions
Captions are ordinary text layers. Select any caption item to change its wording, font, size, colour, or position, adjust its animation in the Text Animation panel, retime it by dragging or trimming, or delete lines you don’t need.
