Live-link sharing in the desktop app requires a Pro license. The browser-hosted version (when self-hosted) is free.
What the Pro tier adds
- Live Link publishing — publish a board to a public URL from the desktop app.
- Updates — push changes to an existing share, keeping the URL and its comments.
- Private storage — run the whole thing on your own Cloudflare account, custom domain included.
What the free tier still gets
- Export Board — download a standalone HTML + ZIP that any recipient can open offline. No cloud, no setup.
- Import board — bring an exported ZIP into your own library (see Importing a Shared Board).
- Board folders — move a whole board to another machine by copying its folder (see Importing and Exporting Boards).
- View shared boards — open any share URL in a browser without needing a license.

Why this tier exists
The app does the work of generating the static HTML, packaging the media, uploading it, and keeping the hosted copy in sync — and hosts your links for you unless you point them at your own Cloudflare account. That is what the Pro license covers. If you do bring your own Cloudflare account, its side stays free or low-cost (see Sharing Overview for the free-tier limits).
What sharing does not require
- A GreenLight DashBoard server of your own.
- A GreenLight DashBoard account on a server.
- An always-online machine — once published, the share lives in cloud storage, not on your machine.
You can quit the desktop app and the share stays live.
