Cloud-sync folders work the same way as any other folder on disk. The app does not integrate with Dropbox or Drive directly — instead, you point a board at the local mirror folder and let the cloud provider handle sync.
Setup
- Install the Dropbox or Google Drive desktop client. Sign in and let it create the local mirror folder.
- In GreenLight DashBoard, open the board you want to sync.
- Click Connected folder in the top bar and pick the cloud-mirror folder (or a subfolder inside it).
See Connected Folder Sync for the connected-folder flow.
How files flow
- Phone → desktop — drop a photo into the Dropbox / Drive app on your phone, the cloud client mirrors it to the local folder, the app picks it up on the next folder scan and adds it to the board.
- Desktop → cloud — anything generated or imported on the canvas is written to the connected folder, the cloud client uploads it, and your phone sees it within seconds.
- Collaborator → you — share the folder with a collaborator in Dropbox / Drive; their additions show up on your board automatically.
Provider-specific notes
Dropbox
- The app reads files from the local mirror — there is no separate Dropbox API integration.
- For shared folders, all members see all changes; there is no per-member filtering.
- Dropbox’s offline-only files (Smart Sync) need to be marked Available offline before the app can read them.
Google Drive
- Same as Dropbox: point at the local “Drive for Desktop” mirror folder.
- Streamed-only files need Available offline turned on in the Drive desktop app, otherwise reads stall.
- “Shared with me” folders need to be added to “My Drive” before they appear in the local mirror.
iCloud
Works the same way: the iCloud Drive folder on macOS is a normal local folder. The same offline-only caveats apply.
OneDrive
Same pattern. Files-on-demand needs to be set to “Always keep on this device” for the folder you sync with the board.
Performance
The app polls the connected folder every 1–2 seconds. Large folders (10k+ files) slow the scan; keep board folders focused.
