GreenLight Motion (GL Motion for short) is an agent skill that turns a brief into a finished motion design film: a product promo, a feature explainer, a tutorial, a launch teaser, a sale video or a social clip. You say what the film is for and what you have (a website, screenshots, a logo, the exact copy), and a coding agent writes the story, designs every scene, builds a preview you can edit yourself, adds a voice-over and sound effects, and renders the film.
Inside GreenLight Dash the whole film is built on your board as a pipeline, so you can see every step, approve it, and step in at any point. The same skill is also open source, so you can run it with any agent outside the app.
GL Motion is separate from the MotionFast templates: MotionFast is the Video Editor’s library of templates with options you tune yourself, while GL Motion is an agent that makes a whole film for you.
What a GL Motion film is
Every scene of a film is a web page that the agent designs and animates. Anything a browser can draw can be in a scene: big kinetic type, shapes and SVG graphics, generative patterns drawn on a canvas, real 3D with lights and glow, and your own pictures and video. A page clock makes every frame exact, so the preview can scrub to any moment and the render records the film frame by frame.
A film can be built three ways:
- Brand-new motion graphics — every scene is designed from scratch for your brand and story. The agent first writes three concepts, picks the strongest, and writes an art direction (the idea, the look, the type, the motion language and one signature move) that you approve with the story. Unique, and slower.
- Ready-made library — the film is built from 275 finished animated library scenes in one clean interface style (buttons, forms, cards, dashboards, checkouts, coupons, countdowns, notifications, chats, AI prompts, galleries, carousels, titles and product showcases), re-worded and re-pictured with your copy. Fast and consistent.
- Mix — library scenes where a UI moment fits the story, and new scenes for the rest.
The agent works as a motion designer would: it reviews stills of every scene before you see anything, keeps your exact names, prices and dates, and never invents claims.
Ways to start a film
- AI Motion Design — a six-step brief in the Video Editor (Smart AI ▸ AI Motion Design…, PRO). You answer the questions once, and the app starts the agent on the Canvas with your brief. See Starting a Film.
- The GL Motion Film preset — open an agent terminal, click Presets and choose GL Motion Film. The agent loads the skill and asks you what to make.
- Just ask an agent — in any agent terminal of the app, ask for a film in your own words, for example “Make a 15-second promo for our spring sale”.
- Outside the app — install the open-source plugin in your own agent. See Using GL Motion Outside the App.
Running the agent inside the app uses GLAI, the app’s agent terminal (PRO, desktop app). You need one of the supported coding-agent CLIs installed: Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity CLI or OpenCode.
Two ways of working
| Way of working | What happens | You approve |
|---|---|---|
| Straight to the preview | The agent decides everything the brief leaves open, writes the story and builds the whole film without stopping. You see the film for the first time in the preview, change anything there, and the agent renders once you approve it. | The preview |
| Step by step | You approve the story in words first, then pick one of two or three storyboard directions (or skip the storyboard), then approve the preview. | The scenario, the storyboard direction and the preview |
In AI Motion Design you can also choose Agent decides: straight to the preview for a short, clear brief, step by step when there is a lot to get right. When you just ask an agent for “a cool video about X”, it works straight to the preview; say “step by step” to be asked at each stage. Either way, nothing is rendered before you approve the preview.
What you get
- A pipeline on your board — the brief, the captured website, the scenario, the storyboard, the preview and the final film, each step with its own card at full size. See The Film Pipeline on Your Board.
- A preview you edit like a design tool — double-click the preview card on the canvas, then click anything in the film to change its words, colour, size, picture or position, or change the film’s colours and font in one place. See Editing the Film Preview.
- Voice-over and sound effects — a voice-over recorded in long, continuous takes with the board’s text-to-speech models (or your own recordings), and sound effects from the Sound Library, mixed into the render. See Voice-Over and Sound Effects.
- A rendered video — an MP4 placed on the board in the pipeline’s Final film step.
- A Video Editor project — every scene as an HTML clip, with the voice-over and sound effects on their own channels, ready to edit in GLEA.
- An After Effects project — built natively in After Effects by an agent from an export package (After Effects must be installed and open). See Rendering and Exports.
Inside the app you need nothing else: the app captures the website, takes the review stills and renders with its own browser and ffmpeg.
The 275 library scenes are also in the Video Editor’s Presets tab, where you can drop any of them onto a timeline as an HTML clip without making a film.
