Find images that look like a reference you already have. Visual Search uses your SerpAPI key to run a Google reverse-image-search and brings the results back into the board.
Set up the SerpAPI key
Open Settings and paste your key into SerpAPI Key. Get one at https://serpapi.com/manage-api-key. The free plan covers a low monthly quota; Visual Search consumes one search credit per query.
Without a SerpAPI key the feature is hidden from menus.
Run a search
Select one image on the canvas → right-click → Find similar. Or open the Lightbox and click Find similar in the toolbar.
A results panel slides in from the right with the matched images. Each tile shows the source URL and a thumbnail.
Drop matches onto the board
- Click a tile to preview it full-size.
- Drag a tile onto the canvas to add it as a new image element.
- Cmd / Ctrl-click multiple tiles, then click Add selected to bring them in at once.
Added matches are downloaded to the board folder and treated like any imported file — they survive going offline.
Filter results
The results panel has filter chips:
- Type — photo, illustration, vector, clip-art.
- Size — small, medium, large, exact.
- Colour — dominant colour bucket.
- Aspect — square, portrait, landscape.
Filter chips re-rank the existing results; they do not re-query SerpAPI, so they do not cost credits.
What it costs
One credit per Find similar click, regardless of how many results come back.
Limits
- The query relies on Google indexing the source image — generated AI images that are not on the public web rarely return results.
- Some results may link to pages that block hot-linking. Those download as zero-byte placeholders; remove them and pick another match.
