Paste a YouTube / Insta / TikTok URL into the panel and the desktop app downloads it. The result lands on your active board and the panel offers to import it.
How it works
The panel has a Paste URL field at the bottom. Paste any URL the media intake parser supports and click Resolve.
The panel sends the URL to the desktop app’s /api/integrations/after-effects/resolve-media endpoint. The desktop runs the same download as a normal paste — the media lands on the active board.
The panel then highlights the new element in the list and offers a one-click Import button to bring it straight into the current comp.
When to use this vs paste-on-canvas
- Paste-on-canvas first, then import — best for batches. Build a reference board in the desktop app, then walk through it in AE.
- Paste-in-AE direct — best for “I just want this one YouTube clip in this comp”. One step, no canvas detour.
Limits
Same as desktop pastes. Private content, geo-restricted, throttled — all the same caveats. The download runs on your desktop machine; the AE panel only triggers it.
