You do not have to set up an After Effects render by hand. An agent — the Board Agent in the dock, or a terminal agent like GLAI — can inspect a project and render it for you from a plain-language request.
What the agent can do
Given an After Effects project on the board, an agent can:
- Inspect it — read the compositions and editable layers, the same way Inspect Mode does.
- Decide the edits — map your request (“put this headline in, use the product shot from the board”) onto the right text and media layers.
- Render — apply the edits to a copy and render the composition, then drop the finished video back on the board.
- Reuse a preset — render an existing saved preset by name, or save a new one for next time.
Example
“Render the intro comp in this AE template with the title ‘Summer Drop’ and use the hero image I just added to the board.”
The agent inspects the project, finds the title text layer and the hero footage layer, applies your text and the board image, renders the comp, and places the result on the canvas for you to review.
Driving it from your phone
Because agentic rendering is just the agent using the terminal, you can trigger it from Telegram with the Telegram Terminal Bridge: send a photo to add it to the board, then ask the agent to render a template using it — and the finished video comes back to the chat.
Requirements and limits
- Adobe After Effects must be installed locally — the agent drives your real AE installation, so rendering only works on a machine that has it. This is a Pro feature.
- Templates beat freeform projects — clearly named text and footage layers let the agent target the right things. Vague or unnamed layers make it guess.
- Media fit is manual — After Effects will not auto-scale a swapped asset to a layer’s original frame, so replacements should roughly match the aspect ratio they replace.
- Review the result — the render lands on the board as a normal video element; check it before using it downstream.
- After Effects app must have no freeze errors and modals.
