- Living backgrounds for your videos — the Video Editor project background can now be an animated shader (silk, aurora, waves, plasma, mesh, blobs), a gradient from a 20-preset library with an optional slow drift, a pattern, an image, or a plain color — drawn identically in the live preview, in exports, and in server renders.
- Shapes get real fills and a neon glow — shape layers can be filled with any of those backgrounds — shader, gradient, pattern or image — instead of just a flat color, and gain a new Glow Frame: a ribbon of neon light around the shape with travel, pulse or static modes and adjustable color, size, thickness and speed.
- Render progress no longer vanishes when you switch tabs — in both the Video Editor and the Mockup Builder, leaving for the Canvas mid-render and coming back now restores the progress bar — and, once done, the “finished · added to board” panel with its Download button — even when the render finishes while you’re away.

v5.6.0 — GLEA editor agent, saved mockups & voice captions
- GLEA — the GreenLight Editor Agent — a new coding-agent panel docks into the right side of both the Video Editor and the Mockup Builder. It knows which project you have open, edits it through the app, and reloads the change live in seconds.
- Mockup Builder projects are saved for real — your mockups are now stored server-side as named projects per board — auto-saving as you work and surviving reloads and restarts. Create, rename or duplicate them, and let GLEA edit them like any other project.
- Turn a voice take into captions — every transcribed take gets a Make captions button that lays the transcript onto the timeline as timed subtitle lines — split at pauses or sentence ends, aligned to word timings, with a word-by-word entrance animation if you want one.
- Keyframe builder rebuilt around per-property tracks — every animated property now has its own independent track of keys with its own easing — fade opacity on one rhythm while a slow zoom runs on another. A big new easing set joins in too: After Effects-style curves, Bounce, Elastic, Expo, Back and Power 2–4.
- More MotionFast, and bring your own — three new native templates (Card Stack, Card Fan, Release Notes Card), plus one-click import of your own template as a .js file or a .zip that bundles its images, video, audio and fonts — with the full MotionFast SDK a coding agent can build against.
- Parse images from a website, redesigned inspectors, full-height playhead — pull every large image off any page URL straight into your board, work in redesigned Video Editor and Mockup inspectors that remember what you collapse and flag what you’ve changed, and line up clips against a playhead that now spans the whole timeline.

v5.5.1 — Update-notice freeze fixed
- Critical fix: freeze and silent restart after launch — when a new version was available, the update notice could send the app into a runaway loop — a ~20-second freeze, a blank window, and a reload that swallowed the notice. The notice logic has been rebuilt: no freeze, no crash.
- The update notice always shows up — the Update button next to the settings gear now appears reliably — after slow loads, in-app reloads and navigation — instead of depending on lucky timing.
- Image adjustments panel stays on screen — the image adjustment popover now flips below the toolbar and limits its height for images near the top of the window.

v5.5.0 — New MotionFast templates, project backgrounds and on-canvas editing
- Six new MotionFast templates — the Video Editor’s MotionFast tab gains Kinetic Stack 3D, Rotating Words Wheel, Cascading Ticker, Sliced Rolling Text, 3D Grid Reveal and Ask Anything Prompt — all rendered natively on the timeline, with your own images in templates that take them.
- Project backgrounds in the Video Editor — set a solid color, gradient, pattern or image as the project background — drawn behind every timeline layer, identically in the live preview and in every export.
- Move layers right on the preview — click a text, image, video or motion layer in the preview canvas and drag, resize or rotate it with on-canvas handles — snapping included, and keyframe-aware: on a keyframe, the handles edit that keyframe.
- Richer text styling — text layers gain letter-case control (uppercase, lowercase, capitalize), underline / strikethrough / overline decorations and shadow spread — rendered the same in preview and export.
- Saved pages come in clean — the HTML editor now strips browser-extension junk (Grammarly, Loom, ColorZilla and friends) frozen into pages captured with “Save Page As”, on load and in every save and export.
- Fixes — clipping-mask rendering in the Video Editor, a reliably appearing in-app update notice, and lighter link-preview thumbnails.

v5.3.0 — Typography control in the HTML editor and a rebuilt WordPress export
- Typography tab in the HTML editor — the Design System panel now lists every font the page uses and swaps any of them in one click — pick from the full Google Fonts catalog with live previews, or upload your own font file. The swap cleanly rewrites stylesheet links, @font-face rules and inline styles, and survives export.
- WordPress export, rebuilt — a new Core HTML block mode exports the page as a single clean block with scoped CSS and JS, next to the existing Greenshift mode — plus control over external assets: keep them referenced, download and inline them, or strip them. Fonts can be embedded directly into the export.
- WordPress exports that survive WordPress — exported markup is now armored against WP’s content filters — emoji re-encoding, entity normalization and comment mangling no longer corrupt the block markup or break block validation.
- HTML cards export as the real thing — shared board exports now bundle each HTML card’s actual file and show it in a live iframe — scripts, animations and relative sizing behave like the original page instead of a frozen snapshot — with an “Open in Browser” link on the card.
- Platform cards keep their source — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest cards in shared board exports now carry a footer with the title and a clickable link back to the original post.

v5.2.0 — Upload your own fonts, AI Fill and MotionFast in the Video Editor
- Upload your own fonts — the font picker in MotionFast and the Video Editor gains an “Upload own font” button (.ttf, .otf, .woff, .woff2). Uploaded fonts are stored in the app, appear at the top of every font selector, and render everywhere — text layers, exports, MotionFast templates and Cavalry presets included.
- AI Fill in the Video Editor — select an AI Fill zone on the timeline and generate the missing footage: the panel snapshots the composited frames before and after the gap, sends them to the first/last-frame video model of your choice, and fills the gap with the result.
- MotionFast inside the Video Editor — a new sidebar tab shows the animated templates — kinetic typography, counters, list rotators, title pushes, word reveals and more — as live thumbnails, and one click inserts them as a motion layer without leaving the editor.
- Motion blur in exports — flip the project’s motion-blur switch and fast-moving layers render with true accumulation motion blur — physically correct for keyframes, speed ramps and adjustment-layer zooms, applied per layer instead of smearing the whole frame.
- Blur faces in one click — video cards get a “Mosaic faces” action that pixelates every detected face — processed entirely on your machine, with the original audio preserved.
- Erase audio & verbatim transcripts — strip a video’s audio track without re-encoding, and transcribe in verbatim mode where pauses show as cuttable “…” tokens — cut silences in Takes like any other word.
- Much faster sequence exports — layers that reuse the same media no longer fight over one shared decoder — each gets its own with keyframe-aware seeking, turning some crawling renders into fast ones.

v5.0.0 — Animated captions in the Video Editor
- Animated captions & subtitles in the Video Editor — text layers now reveal word-by-word or letter-by-letter with 12 ready-made presets: fade-up, rise-from-mask, typewriter, and karaoke-style highlight sweeps that light each word as it plays. They render live in the preview and export through the same pipeline.
- Generated assets collected in one frame — server renders, screen recordings and voice covers made in the Video Editor now land in a single labelled “Video Editor Generated assets” frame on the connected board, instead of scattering across the canvas.
- Unpack a folder straight onto the board — dropping a folder now offers to unpack its contents onto the current board (subfolders copied in, top-level files placed as cards), alongside the existing “put as Sub Board” option.

v4.8.3 — Folder-tree media moves and Open HTML in browser
- Move media into any board from a searchable folder tree — the Media Library’s Move picker now shows your full board hierarchy as a searchable, collapsible tree (matching the sidebar) instead of a flat dropdown, so you can send files straight into nested Sub Boards.
- Open HTML cards in your browser — the HTML editor gains an Open in browser button that opens the current HTML file, as served by the local backend, in your system browser.

v4.8.0 — Redesigned Sub Board cards you can name and color
- Name a Sub Board as you create it — choosing Create Sub Board now opens a dialog to name the new board first, instead of always defaulting to “Sub Board”.
- Redesigned Sub Board cards — a larger board-style card with a stack of “boards behind” it and a 2×2 preview of the linked board’s contents, shown next to its live name and item count. Cards fall back to a compact size when there’s nothing to preview.
- Color your Sub Board cards — each card gets its own background and text color (separate from the color label), so you can visually group or highlight boards on the canvas.
- New Seedream V5 Pro image models — added ByteDance Seedream V5 Pro and Seedream V5 Pro Edit via Wavespeed: the flagship, highest-fidelity Seedream for text-to-image and multi-reference image editing.

v4.7.0 — Clipping masks land in your renders, plus Sub Boards
- Clipping masks now render in exported video — shapes and clipping masks were being dropped from the server render — the finished file showed the raw footage with no masking. Frames are now captured exactly as composited, so masks, shapes, text and all layering appear in the render just like the preview.
- Masks inside sequences work on the main timeline — a shape mask placed inside a sequence used to flatten to a plain shape once that sequence sat on the main project timeline; it now composites correctly in the preview and in every export.
- Cleaner broken-media warning — the “broken media clips” notice now sits at the top of the editor next to the render progress bar instead of floating over the timeline and covering your clips.
- Sub Boards turn clutter into structure — select cards on the canvas and use Create Sub Board to move them into a new child board, leaving a compact Sub Board card that opens the new board on double-click.
- Folder drops can become boards — dropping a folder now offers Put as Sub Board, building a child board from the folder’s media and placing a live reference card on the current canvas.
- Boards panel search and filters — the Blocks area gained a search field under the type chips with title and note-text matching, and side panels now sit cleanly above the canvas controls.
